Glitz owners’ amazement at shop’s hectic first few days

WORKINGTON’S latest clothing boutique is open for business.
The Oxford Street boutique, Glitz, features up and coming fashion labels.
Owners Charlotte Brown and Mark Johnson have been amazed at the business they've seen within the first few days of opening the doors.
“We've only been open a few days but have been surprised at the level of business the shop has created," Charlotte, 30, said.
“The shop's excellent location has something to do with it, but the fact we have clothing from designers popular with celebrities is another big pull."
The couple, who live above the shop, acquired stock from top designers Elsa Haag and Kate Fearnley who are wowing the celebrity circuit with innovative designs.
Hand-made dresses from Middlesbrough designer Kate Fearnley have been worn by the likes of Girls Aloud, and the catwalk collections from Elsa Haag include celebrity styles popular with Victoria Beckham, Scarlett Johansson, Kirsten Dunst and Amy Winehouse.
“With everyone hooked on celebrity cult I think selling top brands will offer much more choice for our customers," Charlotte added.
“The idea for the business came from wanting to create a welcoming environment where customers could feel comfortable to shop and browse at their own leisure.
“So when we get the chance we will be looking to include things that will offer just that little bit more such as regular open nights where customers can come and have a drink, shop and listen to live music, even offer the little things such as refreshments."
Mark, 32, who is also a DJ, shares the running of the boutique with partner Charlotte and says having top designs in menswear had helped to attract customers.
“We have the Affliction clothing range which is the official brand for the Ultimate Fighting Championship; that's proving really popular with our male customers," he explained.
“We have an alteration service and will soon be looking to expand into bridal wear.”
