CARLA Bell, 25, a decommissioning liaison officer for Sellafield Ltd and Christian Hail, 27, an electrician for Amec at Sellafield, live in Whitehaven.
HOW THEY MET: On a night out in Whitehaven in 2003.
PROPOSAL: Christian scattered a trail of rose petals leading to an engagement ring on Christmas morning 2005.
VENUE: St Peter’s Church, Kells, on December 22, 2007.
THEME: Red, black and Christmas.
BRIDE’S OUTFIT: An ivory bodice encrusted with Swarovski crystals, a full tulle skirt and veil decorated in crystals from I Do, Cockermouth. Swarovski tiara made by Janet Sewell, of Whitehaven.
GROOMSMEN: David Butler, 27, and Philip Pattinson, 26, were both best men. Gary Burns, 26, and the bride’s brothers Adrian Bell, 23, and Jason Bell, 21, were ushers. They wore black Prince Edward suits with ivory and red waistcoats and cravats. Declan Nice, four, was a page boy and wore an ivory suit. The groom wore a crushed silk ivory suit with an ivory waistcoat and cravat.
BRIDESMAIDS: The bride’s cousin Kirsty Bell, 15, Rachael Kegg, 23, Diane Connor, 24, and Laura Marshall, 24, were bridesmaids. They wore deep red, strapless satin dresses from I Do with crystal fascinators made by Janet Sewell as well as fur stoles.
FLOWERS: A hand-tied posy of ivory roses and crystals for the bride from Floral Design, Workington. The bridesmaids had bouquets of red roses, holly, ivy, berries, crystals and black feathers made by Janet Sewell.
TRANSPORT: Ivory and burgundy Badsworth and Daimlers from Highams Wedding Services, Hayton.
RECEPTION: Mulled wine and mince pies reception at Hundith Hill Hotel, Cockermouth, followed by Christmas dinner for 140 guests with
a further 60 in the evening.
TABLE SETTINGS: Tall glass vases with roses, holly, ivy, berries and black, sparkly twigs on mirrors. Christmas crackers made by the bride’s aunt, Anne Nice.
FAVOURS: Snow globe tree decorations containing a picture of the bride and groom for the women, Christmas scratch cards for the men and goody bags for the children.
CAKE: A three-tier, white chocolate cake made by Glenn Finley.
FIRST DANCE: Amazed by Lonestar.
ENTERTAINMENT: Miss Dee and a disco by Highams Wedding Services.
HONEYMOON: The Moon Palace Golf and Spa Resort in Cancun, Mexico
