WINDSCALES U16s were feted by their coaches, families, friends and senior teams at a presentation evening on Friday May 30 at the Falcon Club.
West Cumbria Youth League 2007/08
They enjoyed a fantastic season, winning the West Cumbria League Cup final against Cleator Moor Celtic, losing in the County Cup final to Workington Reds, then becoming West Cumbria League Champions at their very last game of the season against Netherhall.
That cup was given to them at the presentation evening.
Coach Joe Shepherd announced the leading goal scorers: Ryan McCourt (27), Gregg Stainton (26) and Robert Carr, who ended the season with a goal tally of 25, despite missing several games following a bone chip injury at the Wigton game.
Skipper and midfielder Declan Stamper was voted Players’ Player of the Year, and also received the annual Shield for greatest overall contribution and maturity.
Central defender Ray Sempill was awarded the Coaches’ Player of the Year.
