Last Thai night at Civic Hall
Last updated 19:42, Thursday, 26 June 2008
THE curtain will come down on a decade of Thai boxing promotions at Maryport Civic Hall tomorrow.
An England versus Germany event will be the last before the venue is demolished.
Tommy Collins, of host club Maryport Dragons, said: “We’ve had some great nights and cracking shows at the Civic. I won my inter-continental title there.
“We’ve put shows on there for 10 years. Our last will be on Saturday.”
Collins is hoping for a crowd of up to 500 for the international clash.
Keswick’s Zoe Green faces German champ Suyin Gells, while Chris Stenson, of Dearham, takes on Marcel Traink, and Nicola Simpson, from Leeds, battles Meryem Uslu. Workington’s Gareth O’Leary faces Ian Pryde from Glasgow.
Tickets for the show are available from Collins by phoning 07979 406855. The Civic’s doors open at 2pm with the opening fight one hour later.
