A NEWLY formed junior football team - Dearham U9 - entered their first competitive tournament at Parsonby and came away with the silverware.
The team is a combination of former Seaton and Maryport Monster players and are coached by Brian Ross and Steve Irving.
During the five-a-side tournament they stormed their way through to the final without conceding a goal and notching up a grand tally of 13 goals.
In the final they were up against a very good team from Abbeytown with the final result a 1-1 draw.
The winners were decided by a penalty shootout where Dearham took the honours winning 3-2.
Hero of the hour was keeper Callum Irving who saved three out of five penalties and went on to score the winning one himself.
