Natalie Bigrigg & Barry Richardson

NATALIE Bigrigg, 23, originally from Workington, and Barry Richardson, 28, are both in the Army. Natalie is a combat medical technician in Edinburgh and Barry is a driver/radio operator in Catterick. They live in Edinburgh.

HOW THEY MET: While working together in the same unit in York in December 2004.

PROPOSAL: Barry proposed over a meal in The Old Town House in Workington on Natalie’s birthday on October 1, 2006.

VENUE: St John’s Church, Workington, on May 4.

THEME: Burgundy and ivory roses.

BRIDE’S OUTFIT: An ivory dress with burgundy detail and a burgundy rose on the back – from Cumbria Bridal Centre in Whitehaven.

GROOMSMEN: James Powell was best man. The groom’s brother Chris Richardson and the bride’s cousin Lee Grant were ushers. The couple’s son Lewis Richardson was a page boy. They wore black top hats and tails with ivory and burgundy waistcoats and cravats from Greenwoods.

BRIDESMAIDS: The bride’s sister Nicola Bigrigg, 27, Diane McKay, 30, and the groom’s sister Karen Richardson, 25, were bridesmaids. They wore Forever Yours duchess satin, claret, strapless, A-line gowns from Champagne Brides, of Workington. The groom’s step-sister Amy Wright, nine, was a flowergirl and wore a dress from Debut.

FLOWERS: Ivory and burgundy roses from Floral Designs , Workington.

TRANSPORT: An ivory Beauford and Daimler from A Touch Of Class, Workington.

RECEPTION: Champagne reception at the Hundith Hill Hotel, Lorton for 76 guests with a buffet in the evening.

TABLE SETTINGS: Tall flute vases filled with lilies and ivory and burgundy roses.

FAVOURS: Ivory boxes decorated with burgundy ribbon and roses, filled with sugared almonds for the ladies; and King Edward cigars in burgundy, personalised boxes for the men.

CAKE: A three-tier fruit and sponge cake decorated in ivory and burgundy roses, made by family friend Ann Diamond.

FIRST DANCE: You Do Something To Me by Paul Weller.

ENTERTAINMENT: MB’Z Disco, of Maryport.

HONEYMOON: Cayo Guilmerro, Cuba.
