STARS from Workington Town and Whitehaven turned out at Cockermouth Cricket Club for Matthew Tunstall’s Testimonial Twenty20 cricket match.
In less-then-perfect conditions, the veteran Town prop won the toss and decided to field and Haven chairman Gordon Grace’s Legs XI side lost early wickets after being put in to bat.
Grace, who hit 20, led by example to help resurrect his side with Vic Semple, who was aided by runner Ade Adebisi, chipping in with 14 in their total of 88. Jason Mossop was the best bowler for Tunstall’s outfit with 1-10 off three overs.
In reply, the Middle Wicket XI got straight into their stride - Dexter Miller, finely backed up by Tunstall and Ryan Campbell, leading the side to victory.
Ged Stokes returned the best bowling figures of 1-4.
Anne Wilson, of the Travellers Rest Supporters Club, was one of the decent crowd on the night, and said: “It was a great night and good to be able to turn out to support Tutty.
“One of the highlights was Cotter [James Robinson] being sin-binned - it was that sort of a night, full of laughs.”
