Stokes still on look-out for new players

Ged Stokes has already recruited two bustling BARLA Great Britain centres this term – and the Whitehaven coach revealed that he may not be finished yet with West Cumbria’s talent-laded amateur ranks.
Ex-Cockermouth ace John Patrick is already on his way to cementing a first-team place at the Recre and new signing Kyle Amor, right, from Hensingham, is expected to add to competition for places in the club’s NL1 three-quarter line next term.
“Our priority at the moment is to make sure we have our contracted players who are coming off contract, signed up for next year,” said Stokes.
“In saying that, we are also working very hard to identify areas we can improve on to add value to the club.
“In some positions, we’ll have to look outside West Cumbria, just to bring that experience factor.
“But otherwise, everything is at our doorstep. We’ll keep looking at the amateurs to see who we think is ready to step up.”
