Weather hits league

WEATHER hit the West Allerdale and Copeland Cricket Association fixtures once more this week, with just four games going ahead.

In the Border Leisure League, Isel II posted 54, led by Robert Owen, retiring on 26. Lanercost then reached 55 for the loss of three wickets, Sam Sykes retiring on 25.

Baggrow and Blennerhasset then defeated Isel II, after hitting 99-4 in their innings, Will Brough retiring on 27 and Callum Ward on 26.

Robert Owen hit 26 before retiring for Isel but they slipped to just 72 all out.

Baggrow and Blennerhasset also got the points from their match with Baggrow Blues, who could not raise a team.

In the Forth Engineering Cup, Workington Dads made 61, Neil Irving retiring on 28 but Workington Lads surpassed them on 62-1, Johnny Irving making 27 of those before retiring.

In the Kirkland Carpets Plate Baggrow and Blennerhasset put on 113, Callum Ward again in the scorers with 26 retired. They then saw off Baggrow Blues who could only reach 71, Peter Turner retiring on 25.

The finals of the Kirkland Carpets Plate and the Forth Engineering Cup take place on Sunday at Caldbeck, with the Plate starting at 10am and the semis and final of the Cup following on, weather permitting.
