Stay away from disused buildings
Last updated 11:56, Tuesday, 09 September 2008
Concerning G and M Mattinson’s letter in respect of their grandson, Robbie Girdler, injured after falling in a disused Abbeytown garage (News & Star, September 4).
While wishing Robbie a full recovery from his injuries, neither he, nor his friends, should have been allowed anywhere near this derelict building, and parents ought to have instilled this into their children, and warned them of the consequences if they were caught.
Mr and Mrs Mattinson state that this particular site has been used as a play area by children of various ages for years.
As this place is so obviously dangerous, parents should have told their children it was totally out of bounds as a play area.
None of these children ought to have been anywhere near such a place.
Parental responsibility certainly needs tightening up everywhere.
