Darren Edmondson wants Workington Reds to roar like the Three Lions in their Blue Square North campaign.
A rejuvenated England last week enjoyed one of their most impressive wins for years, hammering hosts Croatia 4-1 in a World Cup qualifier.
And Edmondson, below, who saw his own team produce an improved effort in Saturday’s 2-1 win over Solihull, Gareth Arnison claiming both goals, wants Reds to take note of the work ethic shown by Fabio Capello’s men.
“Look at the way England started the game,” he said. “They worked hard, got on top and stopped Croatia playing.
“One to 11 sometimes have to squeeze the game sometimes to stop the opposition playing.
“If you chase down teams in our league, they will give you the ball. We’re only going to get out of a game what we put in, and we must treat every game like it’s a cup final.”
Mid-table Reds have a strong chance of making further ground on the Blue Square North pacesetters tomorrow when they travel to struggling Hucknall Town.
The Nottinghamshire outfit have picked up only five points from nine games, half as many as Reds.
But they claimed their first league win of the campaign on Tuesday night, beating Fleetwood Town 3-1 on the road, and are now chasing an elusive victory at Watnall Road.
Nathan Winder is still out with a knee injury, but Chris Timons is back in contention following his one match suspension at Fleetwood.
