Last updated 12:46, Wednesday, 24 September 2008
Carl Stonehewer has been included in a competitive field for Sunday’s Ashfield Classic at Glasgow.
Workington’s senior rider is a former winner of the annual event and has always been a popular visitor to the Ashfield raceway.
The Tigers have used Stoney on several occasions this season as a guest during Shane Parker’s absence through illness and injury.
James Wright, the former Workington rider now riding Elite League with Swindon Robins has been invited.
So too has Tomas Topinka, who has been a popular guest for the Comets – and who will be riding home and away against Edinburgh in the Knockout Cup semi-final on Friday and Saturday.
Despite having to wait until quite recently to confirm the date, the Glasgow promotion have worked hard to secure a good competitive field which will appeal to the fans.
Ipswich star Rory Schlein is one of the main names in the frame with Wolverhampton's David Howe another big name who should be in with a good shout at the title.
However the field has been assembled to be very competitive and there are a good number of names in the line up who will fancy their chances including one or two Ashfield specialists.
The full line up has been give as:- Trent Leverington (Glasgow); Tero Aarnio (Berwick); James Wright (Swindon); Rory Schlein (Ipswich); James Grieves (Redcar); Robert Ksiezak (Glasgow); Carl Stonehewer (Workington); David Howe (Wolverhampton); Mikael Makovsky (Berwick); Tomas Topinka (King's Lynn); Paul Cooper (Sheffield); Shane Parker (Glasgow); Lee Dicken (Glasgow); Peter Juul (Glasgow); Mitchell Davey (Glasgow); Richard Hall (Scunthorpe).
