Ex-Workington keeper Taylor wants Borough Park return

Workington Reds’ former No 2 keeper Aaran Taylor could be set for a return to Borough Park after his release by Barrow – but Northern League Penrith are also showing interest in the youngster.
Taylor, former understudy to Reds’ highly-regarded Adam Collin, has spoken to boss Darren Edmondson about training with the squad, though he was due to line up for a session with Penrith last night.
“I just want to get playing now,” Taylor told News & Star Sport. “I think Darren understands that I just want to get a few games in if I can. I was on the bench all of last year and again this year.”
Taylor, who joined Barrow in the summer, is as yet undecided where his future lies following his fruitless spell with the Bluebirds, though he is aware he will be behind Collin in the pecking order if he returns to Workington.
“I’m just weighing up what’s best for me,” he added. “Adam is obviously No 1 and doing well.”
Barrow have signed 19-year-old Alan Martin, from Leeds United, on emergency loan.
The Scottish Under-19 international has joined following news that Tim Deasy had been playing with a broken thumb.
Dave Bayliss, Barrow’s joint manager, broke the news to Taylor that he would not get his big break at Holker Street.
“Tim made a few mistakes and he said he needed someone on loan,” Taylor added. “He didn’t think I was ready to step in. I wasn’t on contract, so it was easier to get rid of me.”
Reds host Harrogate in the FA Cup tomorrow.
