Nursing sisters of compassion
Last updated 14:11, Monday, 06 October 2008
As a patient for three weeks in September 2005 in Maple D ward of the Cumberland Infirmary, I can readily echo the comments of Valerie Whitby regarding her mother’s fall and aftercare. (News & Star September 24)
I am deeply indebted to the care and attention, compassion and courtesy shown to me by those wonderful ward sisters Clare McKenzie and Helen Balmer, along with staff nurses Helen Mitchell – now a district nurse - Kerri Tweddle and Charlotte Bond (as they were then known), plus night staff nurses Eileen Little and Janet Brown, all excellent at their varied tasks. Plus auxiliaries like Lucy Johnston and Karen (or Caran). Lucy frequently obtained a copy of the News & Star for me, along with others.
I was overwhelmed last month when I received a letter card from Clare McKenzie, Helen Balmer and the staff of Maple C & D in connection with a letter of mine published in the News & Star.
It was much appreciated.
