Man arrested for attempted murder after knife brawl

A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following a brawl involving a knife on a West Cumbrian street.
The Workington man remains in custody today waiting to be interviewed by Workington police officers following reports of a fight in Grasmere Avenue, Workington.
His son was cautioned for harassment and for using threatening language following the disturbance in the early hours of yesterday morning.
A 27-year-old Workington man was taken to the West Cumberland Hospital in Whitehaven for treatment. It is understood that his injuries were not serious but he was treated for lacerations to the head and stomach.
Police rushed to the street after reports of a fight breaking out inside a house.
Inspector Dave Barr said: “Two men were taken into custody following the incident.
“A knife was used during the course of the incident and a man suffered injuries to the head and stomach.”
