Man airlifted to hospital after crash

A MAN was taken to Cumberland Infirmary by air ambulance after a crash on the A66 at Portinscale this afternoon.
The 28-year-old was suffering back and neck injuries, which police said were not life threatening.
The man, from Wigan, was driving a blue Nissan west of the Keswick turn off when he was in collision with a Ford Escort.
The driver of the other car, a 29-year-old Branthwaite man, and his male passenger, a 17-year-old from Keswick, were both taken to the West Cumberland Hospital in Whitehaven and later discharged.
Part of the A66 was closed while emergency services cleared the scene.
