Pies go upmarket

IT’S enough to make you choke on your smoked salmon butty, but posh people’s store Harvey Nichols is to start selling pies!

Not just any old pies, obviously – these are from an award-winning Cumbrian firm.

Burbush’s of Penrith scooped the Three Star Gold award for their duck, honey and marmalade pie at this year’s Great Taste Awards.

Today they launch their range of hand made pies at the Harvey Nic’s Manchester store.

Burbush’s boss Martyn Reynolds said: “We’re thrilled to bits that the store wants to stock our pies.

“Fingers crossed we could go into the other stores in Leeds, Edinburgh, Birmingham, Bristol and Knightsbridge.”

Burbush’s do not sell pies at their headquarters where they are made.

They are only available from specific suppliers, including farm shops and independent delis.
