lights, camera, expansion... Ian Hope and Tim Green from Fluid Productions with new recruit Andrew Currie Scarr

Tim Green and Ian Hope, both from Keswick, set up Fluid Productions four years ago and have been providing video and film productions for blue chip companies like Kellogg’s ever since.

They opened their second office in Whitehaven last year taking advantage of the increasing call for quality film production in Cumbria and have now recruited Andrew Currie Scarr to help with the increasing workload.

Andrew, from Barrow, graduated with a degree in stop animation, the same type of production used for the Wallace and Gromit films.

Tim and Ian, who were looking for very specific editing and animation skills, had advertised nationally for the position.

They were surprised and delighted to find a fellow Cumbrian who was interested in the post.

Tim said: “We thought it would be very difficult to find the film production and editing skills in Cumbria, so we advertised nationally.

“Andrew was looking for a large production house to work with and didn’t realise we were in the county so when he saw our advert he got in touch.

“He has the key camera editing skills we were looking for and will add another dimension with his animation techniques.”

Andrew said: “I am really pleased to have found a nationally recognised company and even happier that it is Cumbrian-based.

“Working for Fluid Productions gives me the chance to make use of my skills and techniques as well as learning new ones.

“It also means I can still live in Cumbria and have the opportunity to work throughout the UK on a range of local and international clients.”

Over the last four years Fluid Productions has built a reputation for producing film for corporate sporting days, working with football clubs like Aston Villa and celebrity snooker players like Willie Thorne and Denis Taylor.

Now they are focusing more on business in Cumbria, Fluid Productions are working with several local businesses on a range of corporate fun days.

The team is equipped to deal with every element of film making, from creative brainstorming, budget management, film production and post production right through to delivery and presentation.

They are experts in sound, lighting and visuals and have found an instant demand for quality conference audio visual support.

Tim said: “We are a Cumbrian company lucky enough to have Cumbrian staff with international experience.

“As a team we now have a wide range of skills and experience and having worked for a wide range of blue chip companies we know we have something good to offer Cumbrian businesses.

“We often find that local companies don’t realise that producing a good quality film doesn’t have to be expensive. Our challenge is to make sure businesses know we can produce good work on the budgets set.

“We are already expanding into Cumbria and feel sure Andrew will play a key role in developing our business further.”

Fluid Productions handle everything from small breakout sessions for 20 delegates to full conference production for over 1000 people.
