Ban Latin sine die
Last updated 12:26, Thursday, 06 November 2008
MUCH as I hate dumbing down in all its pernicious forms, I applaud those councils who have decided to consign Latin phrases to the trash bin.
All too often petty bureaucrats hide behind pompous language. We’ve all struggled with official documents that would win a prize for gobbledegook.
In this day and age people want plain English from their local councils. Not every taxpayer has had the benefit of a classical education.
