Little cod for Workington

WORKINGTON SAC fished a club match on Sunday at Red Bank, the first match for weeks due to the bad weather.
The wind was from the North East and, again, the cod were scarce and failed to show. Plaice, whiting and rockling were caught.
First was Mike Laycock with four whiting for 1lb 10½oz. Second was Paul Eppy with two whiting for 1lb ¾oz and third were P Watson and D Busby with 6oz each.
In the juniors, Tom Smith won and had the heaviest fish with a plaice for 11½oz. Second was Matthew Smith with a rockling for 2¾oz.
There is a meeting tonight at 7.30pm at the Jack Club. New members are very welcome.
The next match is on Sunday at Arnside from 10.30am to 4.30pm. It is a hook match leaving from Jack Club at 8am prompt. Contact 01900 68614 or 01900 871545.
MARYPORT Sea Angling Club fished 6pm-10pm on Sunday at Harrington-Lowca, two either side of low water in a cold northerly wind and at last some fish were caught.
The seniors was won by Barry Heslop, of Maryport, with six dogfish and a whiting for 9lb 3oz.
Second was Steve Farrel, of Maryport, with two cod and rockling for 5lb 13¼oz and third was Les Nicholson, of Maryport, with a cod and two rockling for 4lb 2oz.
The heaviest fish was landed by Ashton Neesham, of Dearham, a 3lb 1oz cod.
Lewis Neesham, of Dearham, won the juniors with a cod and rockling for 2lb 15oz and second was Ricky Holt, of Maryport, with a 4oz eel.
