Goodies galore with no gluten

THIS year’s Cumbrian Gluten Free Food Fayre promises to be bigger and better than ever.
Food manufacturers from across the country will be present, many of them new to the event, including Asda.
There will be samples of bread, cakes, biscuits, beer, pies, sausages, pizzas, puddings, chip shop batter, ready meals and many more products, all gluten free.
Organised by the West Cumbria Coeliac Group, this year’s event at Ullswater Community College, Penrith, is the biggest yet and half of the manufacturers attending are from Cumbria.
More than 700 visitors attended last year’s event and organisers are hoping to break through the 1,000 barrier this time.
Group organiser Jean Foster, from Maryport, said: “The fayre is getting better known and more producers want to attend.
“It is not just for coeliacs, a lot of the products available will be wheat and lactose free as well.”
The event takes place on November 15 from 10.30 am to 2.30pm at Ullswater Community College Wetheriggs Lane, Penrith. Admission is £1 which includes a prize draw entry.
