Seaton and Kells face tough trips

TWO West Cumbrian ARL sides face tough away trips in the opening round of the BARLA National Cup.

Seaton will travel to Pennine League outfit Elland who are currently lying fifth in the first division table.

And Kells are also away from home, as they take on the in-form Rylands Sharks, of Warrington.

The Sharks are currently third in the premier division of the North West Counties set-up on points difference from the top two clubs.

There is an all-West Cumbrian tie in the opening round of the prestigious competition as Glasson host fellow Cumberland League first division outfit Distington in a tasty tie.

Cockermouth, celebrating their first Cumberland League win at the weekend, will host table topping Middleton, who are currently at the head of the Yorkshire League second division.

Broughton Red Rose have also been drawn at home and they could be on the phone to Barrow Island to ask about their opposition Parkside Golborne.

Parkside are sitting just one place above Cumbrians Barrow Island in fifth in the North West Counties premier division.

Cumberland League second division outfit Salterbeck will hope to take their form into their tie with Yorkshire League first division table toppers Knottingley.

Current league champions Ellenborough Rangers also have a home draw, as they entertain Batley Boys, who have not won a league game so far this season, sitting bottom of the Yorkshire League premier division.

Last season’s beaten finalists Wath Brow Hornets, who went down 32-10 at the hands of East Hull, have been handed a bye in this round, along with fellow West Cumbrians Gt Clifton, Lowca, Egremont and Hensingham.
