I’m backing plain John

HE’S been called a “dancing disaster” but, for all of us not blessed with a surfeit of hair and Brad Pitt looks, I hope John Sergeant, right, wins Strictly Come Dancing.
For a start it would put all these TV shows in perspective as being light entertainment, not something more serious than life itself.
Sergeant stands for the ordinary bloke, who shuffles around the dance floor with two left feet. He may not be a figure of beauty, but we empathise with the hell he’s going through and that’s why he’s the experts’ disaster and the public’s dance floor hero.
