The Sensational 60s Experience, The Sands Centre, CarlisleBilled as The Sensational 60s Experience, this concert certainly lives up to its name.
The audience gave their seal of approval to this quintessential line up of Sixties music from 12 fabulous musicians, belonging to three of the most influential groups of that era.
Hosted by the talented and very funny Steve Walls, The Dreamers were first on stage. Now legends in their own right, it was still good to see they’d kept a little bit of the late Freddie Garrity in their routine with the quirky dance routines when they sang their hits like You Were Made For Me and I’m Telling You Now, and their special tribute to him, I Understand,
Classics hits followed, opening the second half was one of my favourite groups, Marmalade. The versatility in their repertoire of hits saw lead guitarist and singer Sandy Newman, one minute mesmerising the audience, when he performed Reflections of my Life and in the next breath had us all on our feet reminiscing to Ob La Di, Ob La Da, Cousin Norman and Radancer.
Silence was Golden as The Tremeloes sung their number one hit from 1967 but we were back on our feet again when they wanted us to Twist and Shout.
Thinking the evening couldn’t get any better a good old rock‘n’roll session with everyone on stage, ended the evening as it began - brilliantly!
