Workington Town’s Mark McCully joins Blackpool

Workington Town centre Mark McCully has joined NL2 rivals Blackpool on a 12-month contract.
McCully was a regular for Town last season but was thought to be keen on securing a club closer to his St Helens home.
“With his experience at this level, he will stiffen us up,” Panthers coach Martin Crompton told News & Star Sport.
“We’ll benefit from his versatility. He’s a ready replacement for Casey Mayberry, who we’ve lost to Rochdale. But he can also play full-back, and if I threw him in to the back-row, he’d do a job there.
“He’s a steady player with a good engine, and I’m expecting good things from him. We’ve signed him for the season with the option of staying longer.”
McCully saw plenty of action in the No1 jersey for Town early this year, later moving to the centres with Jay Duffy switching to full-back.
