Eyemouth Utd 2 Gretna 3: Gretna came from two goals down to clinch the points on a blustery pitch overlooking the North Sea.
With the strong wind playing against Gretna in the first half, the visitors found themselves behind after four minutes, when Eyemouth’s Duncan Aitchison headed home.
The misery continued with a defensive mix-up in the 19th minute and John Crawford put the home side two up.
However, the visitors piled on the pressure enabling Tony Nicholson to slot home on 22 minutes.
Eyemouth nearly increased their lead but Nikki White hooking the ball off the line.
After the break, although the wind had dropped considerably, it was now to Gretna’s advantage and the Black and Whites dominated for the remainder of the game. Gretna eventually equalised after some terrific work allowed John Jardine to score in the 83rd minute.
The winner came from captain Tony Nicholson who linked on to a wind-assisted long goal kick from Gretna goalkeeper John Jardine.
Gretna’s next game is at home (Annan’s Everholm stadium) against Edinburgh City in semi-final of the Image Printers Cup on Saturday (1.30pm ko).
