FUN: Mayfield School pupils enjoy the Bubble Show

Bubbles of all shapes and sizes entertained the pupils in an amazing display, organised as part of the REACT Foundation’s Science and Engineering show.

Pete Woolaghan, chairman of the REACT Foundation, said: “The aim of the Bubble show was to excite and entertain the pupils but also make science fun. This was the first time the pupils had experienced the Bubble Show and it was truly memorable experience for them and everyone involved.”

The interactive show allowed pupils to feel and encounter a science show with a difference. Stepping inside the ‘human’ bubble, youngsters were given a fun insight into how certain materials affect the way others behave.

They experimented with square, rectangular and heart-shaped bubble wands as well and witnesses the colours of the rainbow from the effects of light projections on a bubble.

A secret bubble mixture was another highlight of the show and pupils also experimented with helium learning more about the force of gravity.

It was one of three shows presented by REACT Foundation aimed at promoting science and engineering to young people across West Cumbria.

This year’s activities were sponsored by the Cumberland Building Society Foundation and the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority.
