TWO Keswick School pupils have been awarded a prestigious Arkwright Scholarship for their outstanding work in design and technology.
Ryan Clarke, of Embleton, and Ross Pickthall, of Arlecdon, attended a ceremony at the Institution of Engineering and Technology in London.
Ross’s scholarship is sponsored by the Royal Navy, and Ryan’s is sponsored by Pilkington Group Ltd.
They received their awards from Dr Nigel Burton, deputy president of the IET.
The boys were selected following a rigorous process that included a presentation of their GCSE project work to a panel of interviewers.
The Arkwright Trust supports young people by awarding £250 a year to assist them with the purchase of materials and books.
Ross and Ryan will also carry the status of Arkwright Scholar into their university careers.
Keswick School’s design and technology department will also receive £225 a year for the next two years.
