You’ll find Cumbria’s X-Factor talent in the marts ring

THE X FACTOR: how appropriate that Simon Cowell’s parade of identikit singers has inspired a contest involving sheep.
The Texel Factor – Harrison and Hetherington’s third annual X Factor-themed auction of texel sheep – has just taken place at Borderway Mart in Carlisle.
The contestants were paraded for an appreciative audience before going to their new homes. There was no phone vote. It was all decided by the highest bid principle.
These competitors may not have a very long shelf life, or plate life, but they are still likely to be around for much longer than most X Factor finalists.
Harrison and Hetherington decided on the X Factor theme as a bit of fun. And Reiver would genuinely rather listen to some texels than sit through the Saturday night bleating of a flock of talent-challenged Mariah Carey impersonators.
