WORKINGTON Playgoers will present the Adventures of a Bear Called Paddington as this year’s Christmas production.
The play, described by director Pat Brinicombe as a musical with strong elements of pantomime, opens at the Theatre Royal on Wednesday December 3 and will end on Sunday, December 7.
As well as five evening performances there are afternoon matinees on the Saturday and Sunday.
The production, which has live piano accompaniment from Janet Whitehead, has been chosen partly to help celebrate the 50th anniversary of the book on which the play is based.
Since publication of the book in 1958 Paddington Bear has turned in to a world-wide phenomenon and one Britain’s best exports.
The play was last put on by the Playgoers at Christmas, 1987 .
