Life at the mill favoured by Posh
Last updated 11:22, Thursday, 27 November 2008
IT WAS good to see your report (News & Star, November 22) regarding Victoria Beckham buying Linton Tweed, which she may use in her next designer collection.
Linton Tweeds has long been the pride of Carlisle’s now sadly depleted textile industry.
The company has a fascinating history from its early beginnings to its present day prominence on the global fashion scene, particularly with the House of Chanel, and I tell this story in my forthcoming book Chanel and the Tweedmaker.
Many people have kindly given me information for my book, but if anyone has any memories of ‘life at the mill’ I would like to hear from them.
