Tom Aldred has become the second Carlisle United youth player to win an international call-up.
The Under-18s captain has been invited to join the Scotland Under-19 squad for a two-day training park at Hampden Park next month.
It comes after his centre-half partner Jamie Cleary played for Northern Ireland's youth side in the recent European Championships.
Aldred, from Bolton, has impressed in recent outings for the youth and reserve sides at Brunton Park and has a strong chance of being awarded professional terms at the end of the season.
United's youth team coach Eric Kinder said: "I honestly think that Tom deserves this recognition. He has been playing really well and the Scotland U19 coaching staff have been monitoring his progress all season."
Aldred travelled with the United first team squad to Millwall on Tuesday along with fellow youth team prospect Jonny Blake.
