THE fire service and police have joined together to warn children about the dangers of lighting fires.
Fire safety: Year 6 pupils from Maryport’s Ewanrigg Junior School with PCSO Peter Crome, Brinee Ferguson in a firefighter’s outfit, and Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service youth officer Phill Stannet, during the fire safety programme at the school
The approach to fire safety education is being undertaken as part of the Safer Schools Partnership.
Ewanrigg’s PCSO Peter Crome, who is officer for Ewanrigg Junior School, and Phill Stannet, of Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service, spent two days at the school teaching about the dangers of fire and the consequences to anyone caught deliberately setting fires.
Mr Stannet explained what to do in case of fire, including evacuation of the school.
