Artist to return to county with his colourful paintings

TOP British artist Paul Horton, whose paintings often draw comparisons to LS Lowry’s, returns to Treeby & Bolton gallery, Keswick, tomorrow with his latest collection of work.
Birmingham-based Paul will showcase a selection of original paintings and new limited edition prints, and will also chat to visitors and collectors.
His original work can sell for up to £15,000 but visitors to the gallery in Lake Road can pick up a limited edition print for as little as £165 – and Paul says he will be happy to sign or write personalised messages on any of them.
Paul said: “I really enjoyed my last visit to Treeby & Bolton last December, despite the cold weather up there.
“They were really friendly people and it was a fabulous place with an eclectic mix. I am pleased to be coming back.”
Last year’s tour saw Paul move away from Lowry-esque industrial landscapes when he introduced a series of new characters and scenes, including his pastel interpretation on Noah’s Ark, entitled Disappearing World.
His new work includes a sunny day follow-up of this called, It’s A New Dawn, It’s A New Day, It’s A New Life.
Paul added: “The modern-day Lowry connection is still a big part of my work but people have started to regard me more as a storyteller in my own right, and I quite like that.
“As an artist you have to challenge yourself all the time to come up with new ideas.
“I want to take people with me on a journey.”
Paul Horton will be at Treeby & Bolton between midday and 3pm.
