PUPILS at two north Cumbrian schools sang their hearts out yesterday to become world record breakers.
Pupils at Burgh by Sands School and William Howard School in Brampton joined other children across the country in the Big Sing 2008.
At 2.45pm yesterday, participants across the country smashed the 2005 Guinness World Record for the biggest simultaneous singalong.
The event saw schools link with the O2 arena in London performing You Gotta Be with Des’ree.
The Big Sing was raising funds for Marie Curie Cancer Care, CLIC Sargent (Caring for Children with Cancer) and Youth Music.
More than 554,000 children – at 3,200 schools – registered to take part. The previous record was 293,978 singers.
