Information leak was a betrayal of trust
Last updated 12:52, Tuesday, 02 December 2008
Regarding David Cameron’s response to the Damian Green incident, what would his reaction have been if someone employed at Tory HQ had leaked to the press details of private discussions he had overheard?
Would he have said, “the public have a right to know”?
The Home Office civil servant involved in this case betrayed the trust placed in him/her by leaking the information.
By allegedly passing it on to the press Damian Green compounded that disgraceful act.
What is more serious is that this is only the latest of a series of leaks from Government offices.
Isn’t it time we started weeding out those civil servants who have no sense of moral responsibility?
