West semis
Last updated 19:46, Thursday, 28 February 2008
THERE’S an all-West Cumbria line-up in the semi-finals of the John Smith’s individual snooker county championship - probably for the first time on record.
Robert Sim, Kevin Basnett, Mike Park and Peter O’Hagan are all through awaiting the outcome of the semi-final draw.
In the quarter-finals Marchon’s Sim continued his winning ways when he overcame the challenge of Carlisle cueist Giles Finnegan. Basnett, of Workington Railway Club, defeated Kendal former county champion Andrew Milliard.
Mike Park and Vince Peet completed their match at Workington Conservative Club with the winner moving through to the semi final. This was as far as both players had progressed in the championship before.
Previous finalists Paul Wright, who plays from the Portland Club, and Workington’s Peter O’Hagan completed their match at the John St Club.
The draw for the semi-finals will be made shortly and venues organised.
