Helping to create a campus for Lillyhall
Last updated 11:44, Thursday, 27 March 2008
WORK has begun to recruit a high-quality project director to develop a new integrated University of Cumbria campus at Lillyhall in West Cumbria.
The successful applicant will pioneer the development of the campus to meet the demands of learners and employees across the area and beyond.
The new campus will complement the nearby Lakes College and newly-formed Nuclear Academy to provide opportunities for people to progress from vocational courses to degree level studies without having to leave West Cumbria.
It will target the vocational needs of communities throughout West Cumbria and have a significant impact on the socio-economic development of the area.
A project steering group has been established which brings together representatives from the University of Cumbria, NDA, University of Lancaster, Lakes College and The Nuclear Academy, all of whom are determined to maximise the benefits of an integrated campus.
An initial £10 million is being invested by the NDA to create the new facility with a focus on courses related to nuclear decommissioning, including health physics and business innovation as well as construction and engineering.
