Sir Jimmy joins legends’ line-up

JIMMY Glass, Kevin Gray, Tom Cowan, Andy Preece and Darren Edmondson are among the heroes of United’s recent past who’ll be tugging a blue jersey over their heads again at the Northern Masters in a couple of months’ time.
Paul Simpson, David Reeves and Dean Walling have also been approached to join the set of nine Carlisle veterans who’ll be comparing dodgy knees and retreating hairlines with counterparts from Newcastle, Sunderland, Middlesbrough, Hartlepool and Darlington at Newcastle’s Metro Radio Arena on June 15.
The word is that Gray will be wearing the captain’s armband, which pretty much kills the idea that this will be a gentle summer saunter around the Astroturf for Carlisle’s thirty- and forty-something legends.
Glass is the designated goalkeeper, but I doubt whether even Gray has the authority to stop him straying from his box.
