Ged Stokes has warned Whitehaven that Leigh’s ex-Super League star Dennis Moran still poses a massive threat – despite his switch to full-back.

The Aussie stand-off was man-of-the-match in Widnes Vikings’ Northern Rail Cup final 54-6 demolition of Haven last July, on his way to being named NL1 player-of-the-year.

“He’s been around a long time and he’s lost nothing,” said Haven boss Stokes. “He’s very dangerous from full-back and involved in more or less every set of six.

“He’s a good support player as well, and our players know how strong he is. Playing at full-back has added an extra dimension to his game.”

Moran, now 31, who has also starred for Wigan and London Broncos, bagged 23 tries in 28 appearances for the Vikings last term.

Meanwhile, Haven star Carl Rudd is set for his 100th first-team game in the clash at the Recre today (3pm).

Since debuting in January 2005, the ex-Wath Brow Hornet has scored 31 tries, 297 goals and two drop-goals, for a tally of 720 points in 99 games. He has missed only 10 matches in that period. Since becoming the recognised goal-kicker in 2006, he has scored in every game in which he has appeared except one, at Halifax in January 06, when John Duffy took over kicking duties.

New Haven signing Andy Gorski is expected to make his home debut today. The Centurions have made a mixed start to the campaign, winning two of their opening five league matches.

Stokes was at Hilton Park last weekend, alongside Gorski, to see them blow a commanding lead against Halifax.

The Centurions, playing with 12 men for the last 50 minutes after sub Chris Hill was sent off, led 36-10 with 24 minutes left on the clock. But a Fax fight-back saw them snatch the three points with a 42-36 win.
