THE 100-mile time trial from Embleton to the river Derwent roundabout at Cockermouth then back to Keswick and around the Bassenthwaite lake to Keswick and repeated for two laps finishing back at Embleton does not attract many riders to test themselves against the clock.

FOR the last Tuesday night 25-mile time trial in the Velo Club Cumbria season the weather at least gave riders a chance to go fast from Cockermouth to Keswick and back.

VELO Club Cumbria held what has got to be one of the toughest time trials in West Cumbria on a course from Cockermouth School to Dubwath and returns via the steep Highham hill and over the top to finish just before the junction at Cockermouth, a distance of eight miles.
