Rugby’s golden oldies line-up
Last updated 16:05, Wednesday, 30 July 2008
MORE golden oldies will be out in force at Copeland Stadium on Monday evening for a Masters of League over-35s rugby league clash.
It’s Cumbria versus Australia, with a host of familiar faces, both professional and amateur, bringing out their boots for the honour of the local team.
There will be no Mal Meninga or Wally Lewis in the Aussie line up, but the team the unofficial Kangaroos are fielding is expected to be strong.
Among the ex-pros facing them will be: Dave Rotheram, Gary Charlton, Dave Richardson, Colin Armstrong, Barry Quayle, Hugh Waddell (ex-international), Tony Scott, Steve Brierley, Alan Davidson and Gary Hewer.
A number of other evergreen star amateurs will make up the rest of the Cumbrian squad.
The game kicks off at 6.30pm with proceeds going towards stadium upkeep.
