AN examiner has commented on the high standard of artwork on display at Lakes College’s end of year show.
Fourteen second year National Diploma Level 3 students exhibited their work, which included everything from graffiti, photography, videos and paintings to textiles, crafts and fashion.
The external verifier, who inspected the work for grading during the week-long exhibit, said he was pleased with the high quality of the pieces and now has the task of grading the work. Each of the students had their own brief and had to produce the work as their own personal projects. The exhibition took place during many of the students’ last week at the Lillyhall college before they go on to university.
An opening evening was held in which staff, parents, families and other guests were invited to a special exhibit of the work, which was captured by photographer Georgina Thompson. One piece, by Jonathan Hunter, was particularly poignant. He had painted the Purple House at Keswick – possibly the last painting of the landmark building before it was destroyed by fire.
The other exhibitors were Chris Brough, Lorraine Durham, Anne-Marie Gibson, Jayne Hayward, Ben Hill, Craig Hooper, Ryan Kitto, Carys Mckenna, Jaqui Miller, Jack Pascoe, Laura Poulson, Peter Stephenson and Margaret Thompson.
