Free drama workshops
Last updated 16:05, Wednesday, 13 August 2008
FREE drama workshops are taking place at Moresby which will then lead to a performance.
Drama practitioner Mandy Norman is taking the workshops which promise to be energetic, fun and confidence-building.
They will focus on the history of local coal-mining through drama techniques, in particular looking at the Lowca pit disaster of 1946.
The workshops will take place at Moresby Parish Hall on August 20 and 27 between 1pm and 3pm.
These will lead to a performance on Saturday, September 13, at St Bridget’s Church.
The event has been organised by Mandy on behalf of English Heritage open days in conjunction with Whitehaven Civic Society.
She has put on many heritage drama workshops over the years including the sell-out success at Whitehaven School of Kings and Queens of Coal.
The free workshops are open to any child aged between six and 18. Just turn up on the day or telephone Mandy for more information on 07881 961910.
Mandy is also working with pupils at St James’ Junior School on a similar project which will lead to a performance on September 14 at St James’ Church.
