ASPATRIA have closed the gap on Tesco Cumberland County League Premier Division leaders Netherhall.
While the Maryport side were losing 1-0 in a County Cup semi-final at home to Carlisle United, Aspatria were reducing the champions’ lead to five points.
Goals from Richard Hudson (2) and Gareth Hill gave Aspatria a 3-1 win over Cockermouth. Mark Skillen scored the goal for the losers.
Only one other game went ahead in the top flight in which Wigton Harriers beat Carlisle City 5-0 with goals from free-scoring Mike Riding (3) and Ian Johnston (2).
The weather played havoc with the fixtures and there was only one game played in the First Division in which Carlisle Spartans beat Windscale 1-0 with a goal from Ross Stephenson.
