Sea angling and other sports

THE White Horse Sea Angling Club’s match last Sunday from Sellafield to Harrington pier was fished over high water in a bitterly cold northerly wind.

1 T Pullin, two flounders, one plaice - 2lb 9 1/4ozs; 2 T Armfield, one dogfish (heaviest fish 1lb 9ozs), one rockling - 1lb 12 1/2ozs; 3 G Moore, two flounders, one rockling - 1lb 10ozs; 4 P Bragg, three rockling - 8 1/2ozs.
Junior winner was Robson Bell with a 6oz flounder.
The next match this coming Sunday is from Sellafield to Harrington pier (pier excluded). Fishing times are 3pm to 7pm with the weigh-in at Wellington car park.
Also this coming Sunday, Rockhoppers SAC are running an open competition from Workington to Maryport with fishing times from 1pm to 5pm.

Whitehaven Ladies Darts

RECENTLY the team knockout was played in the Sun Inn.
The Crown, Cleator Moor, were the winners, beating The Vine in the final after beating Wheatsheaf, Cleator Moor, in the semi-final. The Vine beat The Castle in their semi-final. Lowca ARLFC won the alternative final beating Puncheon in the Dusty Miller.
The doubles final was held on Tuesday, March 8 in the Wheatsheaf.
A Gale and K Kirkpatrick, Castle, beat L Mills and C McAvoy, Pack Horse. R Barker and M Coan, Crown, beat S Moore and B Butler, Stump. D Southey and F Holliday, Robin Hood, beat M Donaldson and A Riley, Wheatsheaf. S Burns and L Dockray, Lowca Social, beat L Briscoe and J Sheils, Puncheon.
In the semi-finals, Angela and Karen beat Rose and Margaret; Dawn and Fiona beat Sandra and Lynn. Angela and Karen beat Dawn and Fiona in the final.
