PRESIDENT Mrs Matterson welcomed members and three visitors to the April meeting of Santon Bridge WI.
Mrs Jackson told members about the invitations to Waberthwaite WI.
The entertainment was excellent, the Millom School Band had a lovely programme of music and the supper was wonderful.
Mrs Eldred was our delegate at the Spring Council meeting. Guest speaker was Fiona Armstrong, from Border TV. She spoke abut the proposed merger with Tyne Tees TV, which if it goes ahead will mean Border News coverage will only be for six minutes instead of the 30 minutes we now have.
Congratulations were in order, as Santon Bridge won the County Cup for the team darts against 10 other finalists. The team darts final took place at the Rugby Club, Aspatria the night before the Spring Council meeting and Mrs Eldred (our delegate) proudly received the cup on our behalf.
Our speaker was Mrs Jo Walker and entertained us with her “Life as a Nun” part two.
She was thanked by Mrs Pye.
The competition an “Animal Ornament” was won by Mrs Pye, Mrs Casson and Mrs Sharp.
Entertainment from Mrs Matterson was a quiz. Winners were Mrs Pooley, Mrs Pye and Mrs Jackson.
A welcome tea and biscuits was served by Mrs Sharp and Mrs Pooley. Thanked by Mrs Hardy.
