CELTIC continued their encouraging form in 2008 with a good away victory with a depleted squad.
The visitors tried their best to play football on a poor surface and forced the best of the early chances.
Craig Padley and Glyn Edwards both had efforts saved, before they had a scare at the other end when Silksworth’s Johnston broke clear but his attempt was blocked.
The breakthrough came after 24 minutes when Karl Fillingham ran past the square defence and lobbed Silksworth’s keeper from 14 yards.
And things got better for Celtic, and Fillingham, 10 minutes later when he made it two with a good finish from a Jamie Devine pass.
Johnston pulled a goal back for the hosts two minutes later, but Edwards finished well early in the second half to restore Celtic’s two goal advantage.
Metcalfe netted a consolation for Silksworth with thee minutes to go, but Celtic saw the game out to take the three points.
