Signs’ galore

AS we report the police concerns over the theft of a speed indicator sign (SID) from a Cleator Moor roadside, it prompts us to speculate on a wheelie bin full-ness device.
Perhaps councils could fit flashing warning lights that give out a warning if any resident dares to exceed their wheelie bin capacity? A simple electronic switch if a bin lid is left open might suffice!
As it happens, we did happen to notice a public litter bin at Whitehaven’s Mount Pleasant Steps. The bin has been full and overflowing for two days and reflects rather badly on the town. Perhaps Copeland should remember that what’s sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander....
