PEOPLE from all over the north of England descended on Ravenglass for the recent Seaquest event.
Sixty-seven canoes and kayaks took part in the orienteering event, organised by Annette Morris from Gosforth, in which competitors had to visit as many check points as possible in three hours in the estuaries of the Irt, Esk and Mite.
The outright winners were Phil Davies and Julia Tucker from Borrowdale Fell Runners in a lightweight racing kayak.
John Willacy, from Anglesy, was the fastest solo and second overall. Third were Alastair Hornsby and Mike Gregson, from Aspatria, in a double. Fastest solo lady was Jane Hornsby from West Cumbria Canoe Club.
And a fantastic result from Manchester-based Sean Jesson and six-year-old daughter Lojska, in a double, who were second overall.
Dave Williams and family, from St Bees, won the family category, while Copeland Canoe Club were out in force and won the junior and senior team categories.
The event again raised money for the St Bees RNLI Lifeboat Appeal, and will be added to the £600 already raised from previous events.
